Welcome to a brand new week, hope your weekend was fine.
It was probably better than that of the French squad who refused to train and whose captain had a scrap with a fitness coach. It was probably better than the England squad too after John Terry showed exactly why England struggle at big tournaments – player egos are totally out of control. And it was probably better than the French referee who missed Luis Fabiano playing basketball to score his second against the Ivory Coast last night.
Today should be interesting as the likes of Myles Palmer refuse to write about Brazil because of their blatant cheating and Henry Winter calls for Fabiano to be banned from the tournament. I mean, consistency is the name of the game, isn’t it? Deliberate handball is deliberate handball. And not only did he handle it, he lied about it to the referee too. There is simply no end to the way Fabiano will try and bring shame on the noble and incorruptible game of Association Football.
Yesterday afternoon saw New Zealand hold defending champions Italy to a 1-1 draw, a fantastic result for them and fair play to them. They defended like all blacks and I suppose it’s good for the tournament that the big teams aren’t just steamrollering the so-called lesser lights.
Arsenal interest today centres around Spain. Cesc Fabregas is in line for a start against Honduras as the Spanish look to bounce back from their first game defeat to Switzerland. And speaking of Cesc, the most arrogant man in football has spoken about Barcelona’s move for our captain, saying:
Arsenal will finally give in, but I do not know when it will, therefore, we have to wait and let the professionals in charge do their work.
Keep talking like that Mr Lady Name, I’m sure those sort of comments do nothing but make Arsenal more steadfast in their refusal to deal with your club, whichever girl-named twat is in charge.
Arsene Wenger, meanwhile, has confirmed our interest in Laurent Koscielny. He says:
There has been an approach for Koscielny and there still is one.
Obviously things are going on behind the scenes there but if we can’t manage to sign an inexperienced bloke from a mid-table French club I might start to get quite worried indeed. I’m hoping there’s more happening too but I’m trying not to be greedy. Not yet, anyway. He also confirmed the departure of William Gallas, saying of his World Cup form:
I don’t know if Gallas has been perturbed by his departure from Arsenal. I knew he wouldn’t be at 100 per cent for this tournament. The question for the manager is to know if he should have called up Gallas while knowing he’s not 100 per cent. He’s played 35 minutes in four months before here.
Yeah, stoopid Domenech. Should have called up Koscielny. I hear he’s the next big thing.
Young striker Jay Simpson is in talks with Cypriot side Ammonia Knickersia according to the Daily Mail. He spent last season out on loan at QPR and did pretty well scoring 13 goals. Which would make you think that if it wasn’t enough to secure a future at Arsenal ahead of two goal Carlos Vela it would at least make a few Championship clubs sit up and take notice.
Not much else happening, I’m looking forward to seeing the Dear Leader’s troops marshall Ronaldo to point where he burst into tears (or flames) this morning.
Till tomorrow.
