So, Newcastle today and a game we have to win to keep the pressure up on Chelsea. They play later on against Liverpool and as poo as Liverpool have been this season, and they have been poo, it’s one of those games in which they might drop points. If they do we have to take advantage.
There’s a kind of ‘Awww, it’s Newcastle’ thing about Newcastle, it seems. Folk are of a more kindly disposition towards them than they should be. I suppose it’s a leftover from the Keegan era when they probably ought to have won load at the expense of Demento and United but didn’t because he’s such a mentalist nitwit. Relegation under Shearer was hilarious, their fat owner is a boor and they’re managed now by a big old Sp*rs cunny.
They come into the game on the back of a great win in last weekend’s derby againsts Mrs Doubtfire’s Sunderland. Sure, they were helped by the sending off of Titus Bramble but they were, before that, helped by the presence of Titus Bramble. The team we faced in the Carling Cup last week will bear no resemblence to the one he puts out today. It will be chock full of twats. Barton, Nolan, that striker everyone talks about as being a good striker and not the kind of man who would punch a woman, and fucking blue lipped evil Yorkshire pig.
From our point of view we welcome many back and there are even rumours that Robin van Persie might be involved today. I don’t see him starting. If I had to guess it’d be:
Fabianski – Sagna – Squillicai – Koscielny – Clichy – Song – Wilshere – Fabregas – Nasri – Walcott – Chamakh
If van Persie is back it’d make for one hell of a bench with him, Bendtner, Arshavin and Rosicky all providing options. New boy Koscielny says:
We have to be unbreakable at home. Everyone can play his part, go out onto the pitch and do something that benefits the team. That’s so important.
A win would close the gap to just 2 points, temporarily at least. The complacency and lack of focus the manager complained about in midweek has no business rearing its ugly head today. We know from recent and bitter experience that we’ll get punished if we’re below our best today. If West Brom can do it then so can Newcastle. They have the league’s joint leading scorer in Kevin Nolan so we’ve got be careful. Arsene says:
We were too sure that we would win the West Brom game. We will not repeat that against Newcastle.
The clean sheet record went in midweek so today would be a good day to get that started again. They’ll come today with nothing to lose and with United’s late winner last night pushing us down into 3rd we need three points to move back up the table. We’ll have to cope with their cunt-cunt-cunt formation as well but I reckon, if we’re on our toes today, we’ll have more than enough to take the three points. And hopefully we can do it in a more timely fashion than we did in the last game against West Ham.
Jack Wilshere talks about the frustration of sitting out games though suspension and the battle to regain his place in the team. Nobody has made it that difficult for the manager though and I expect Jack to start today.
Speaking, as I was just a paragraph ago, of United’s late winner yesterday, check out fourth official Mark Halsey’s reaction to it. It was remarkably similar to mine. The difference being that I was sitting on my sofa and didn’t then have to get out of the way of whatever it was that Mick McCarthy kicked.
So that’s about that. It’d be nice to achieve the right result with a good performance today, a reaction to the midweek defeat would be a fine thing, but as I always say I’ll take a scabby 1-0 if that’s what it takes.
