Matchday chat and user registration
Matchday chat is still a feature but for the season ahead we have implemented a new system which means that to access and take part in the chat you will have pay an annual subscription of £10.
Note: you do not have to register or subscribe to follow the live blog itself.
Considering the amount of games Arsenal will play throughout the season that works out at about 20p per game. You can register with our new live portal, choosing a username/password etc, or you can sign in via Twitter or Facebook. Once logged in you will see an option to upgrade via Paypal to a premium account which will allow access to live blog chat – as well as some other features we’re going to roll out over the next couple of weeks (including the arses).
The reason we’ve decided to do this is because last season the chat became impossible to moderate and the worse our results got the worse the content of the chat became. It resulted in a kind of sub-YouTube shitfest which has no place on this site. The subscription/registration will allow us to more easily deal with people who want to display their ignorance but also the people who will subscribe aren’t the kind of people to engage in that sort of nonsense.
We’re sure that it will provide into a more pleasant match day experience for those who wish to take part (although we make no guarantees about the actual football!), and we hope it’ll become a nice community as the season goes on. If you have any questions about this, feel free to get in touch.
