Ok, in the light of new information I need to clarify the previous post.
Arsenal Brasil and I exchanged emails over the Denilson interview. They granted Arseblog exclusive ‘English’ rights to the interview and its content, as they did with the Edu interview. They did the translation, attached the sub-titles and sent me the video clip around noon yesterday.
The interview was published simultaneously on both sites at around midnight GMT. As far as Arseblog and Arsenal Brasil were concerned, this was the first time any information from the interview had been made public.
I got up this morning to discover quotes, taken directly from the interview, in a piece in The Sun by Charlie Wyett. I would like to confirm, having spoken to Charlie a number of times this morning, as well as to Arsenal Brasil, that he did not take the content from either Arseblog or Arsenal Brasil. That does not mean the content was not exclusive to Arseblog and Arsenal Brasil – and the content of The Sun article came directly from our interview.
It appears a 3rd party, who was informed of some of the content of the interview sold that content to The Sun without the knowledge of the interviewer or the producer of the interview.
So, my apologies to Charlie Wyett for the Twitter bashing he took and some of the things in this morning’s earlier post. It should be made clear that Arseblog, Arsenal Brasil and Charlie Wyett all acted in good faith.
I have amended parts of the previous post as I am fully aware of the permanence of content on the internet. I should point out that my reaction this morning is not just based on this morning’s events. Over the close to nine years of this blog my content has been reproduced, republished, reprinted and rejigged countless times without my permission.
Hopefully that clarifies things fully. I would still ask that any content from this interview be credited to Arsenal Brasil and Arseblog – regardless of how other publications obtained that content.
