I have been a reader of your paper for a long time now and have always appreciated the fair and balanced views given by your team of articulate journalists. However for the first time in many years I have been compelled to write to you to complain about Alan Greens most recent article "Whinging Wenger is losing plot" dated 12/04/08.


I understand that Alan is a very opinionated man, and can respect his opinions if not always agree with them, what I simply can not tolerate is lazy journalism and the twisting of facts or even non-facts.

Here he directly accuses Wenger of citing a dutch conspiracy, but where is the evidence to back this up? There simply isn't any! Yes there were some red top tabloids that amused us with the thought of dutch conspiracies but Wenger never did anything to imply this himself.

Now I fully understand that the odd editorial mistake can occur now and again but to publish an article that uses shoddy misconstrued ideas to prove a point is damaging to the integrity of your paper. The whole point of Alan Greens article was to show that Wenger is a 'whinger' and his main point of evidence is that Wenger complained about a link between two dutch men, this as shown above is 100% fiction.

I feel as a loyal reader that I have been let down by this publication and expect an apology by Green as the bare minimum required to show that your paper has the integrity and class that it so aspires to.

The press are the ones who raised the issue of the referee being Dutch. Then they blame Arsene for saying it. Typical British sports journalism. No integrity whatsoever. But I guess it's okay to treat Arsene like that because he's foreign. Fergie basically accuses referees of bias in his post game interviews and the press acts like it didn't happen. Pathetic.

I have complained to the BBC that they are allowing a man with these views provide commentary on the ManU game tomorrow. I suggest others do to, citing this article. How the f*** can he be deemed to be impartial or unbiased?

If (as looks likely) we fail to win anything this season i feel next season is critical for Wenger. the economics of the Emirates demands success and Wenger may see himself being moved upstairs. His ability to spot a player is in question as is is his tactical acumen and 'winning ' mentality. Success is the currency and at the moment we are cash poor.

Wenger may be entering the 'George Graham' phase, whereby his own ego is detrimental to the bigger picture of a club that is set up for the ambition of being title winners and serious contenders. What Wenger has done in the past in bringing in unknown players and turning them into world class has been somewhat misenterpretated. When he bought in Pires,Overmars, Ljungberg, Petit, Henry,Wiltord, Gilbert,Silvinho,Van Bronckhorst they were already international players. His master stroke was Vieira who was able to take over where Tony Adams left off and lead the Club on the pitch, the character and personality of the team was that of winners and contenders who had strength & bottle as well as ability, winning titles and finishing second battling it out on the last day of the season. I can only remember those players capitulating once; at old trafford in the 6-1 debacle.

Wengers introduction of 'fully formed' players has not worked out since he disbanded the majority of the Unbeatables; Rosicky & Eduardo-injury, Reyes-homesick, Baptista-underperformed. He now seems to be obsessed with converting players.

Recently this has exposed in games where he had said we needed width he has played the following as wide players; Walcott and Van Persie strikers, Diaby Central midfield, Hleb who Wenger himself said is naturally a central player and Eboue who is Right back. Yet Wenger let Bentley leave the Club, hard to understand. Against Chelsea at 1-0 Wenger did not or could not change things and the fact that Wenger even mentioned Chelsea's long ball approach as mitigation against losing was ridiculous, did he not have an idea that they might do this? what was the point of bringing on Bentner in the 87th minute? this is against a team that Spurs put 4 past! tactical naivety.
Against Liverpool he chose to play the right back Eboue at right mid-field, a player who has not scored all season. And Toure, a central defender at right back. He left Song on the bench and therefore we where left with Senderos; this cost us dear. Despite the poor refereeing decision we should have been capable of closing the game down at 2-2.

Wenger is trying to create a squad of young players with potential and the truth is the squad is not good enough, the supposedly weakened teams that played in the Cups lost 5-1 & 4-0, this is clear evidence for the prosecution. The blunt refusal of Wenger to buy quality players in the summer and in the transfer window like Torres (who is toiling away in a sub standard Liverpool side), and Ribery has to be addressed. It's not about buying the league it's about competing in a market!

If Wenger delivers the League in May it will be a monumental achievement given the number of players still playing at the top level that have left the club to be replaced by youngsters, unparralled by any other team in the world; Henry, Vieira, Reyes, Kanu, Ljungberg, Van Bronckhorst, Silvinho, Pennant, Upson, Baptista, Bentley, Pires, Laarson, Campbell, Lauren, Alliadierre,Cole Diarra , Anelka ,Sidwell to consistently lose quality and experience and to come up trumps would be nothing short of miraculous

Everyone saw what we were capable of in the San Siro this season but it's the consistency of a killer instinct and the direction the club is going on the pitch under Wenger that still remains a question mark

In the same article the twat says of Wenger: "He lamented the lack of experience of the Arsenal defending at the penalty incident without apparently noticing that the man at fault was his most experienced defender!" Excuse me - I would've thought Gallas was a little more experienced?

A trivial point perhaps, but it further shows that despite the fact that Green's job is 1000 times easier than Wenger's, he can't even manage the absolute basics of factual accuracy. The man is a disgrace.

It is not only Green who is most definately biased towards Liverpool and United. The level of pro Liverpool bias throughout BBC sport is very high. Green is part of the furniture of the football establishment that sees Man U at the top,Liverpool second and the rest there to make up the opposition. This is why the BBC are continually silent on the disgraceful behaviour of Sir Alex Ferguson and the appalling, dull defensive football of Liverpool.
606 has now become a Liverpool supporters programme. which is why I no longer listen. Ex Liverpool players like Hansen and Lawrenson are not surprisingly incredibly biased - which is why despite being in the entertainment industry Wenger gets no credit from the BBC for the entertainment value Arsenal provide in every match. I and neutrals like me massively outnumber the number of United and Liverpool fans combined so why can't our perspective that skill and attacking football rather than getting results at any cost for their team- be more adequately recognised by a media we pay for?

The fact Arsene primarily buys foreign, not just French, youth is that they often better technically and cheaper. All round good value. Of course let's not forget this same policy also brought us Bentley, Pennant, Ashley Cole and currently Theo Walcott.

Lazy rabble-rousing journalism. Alex Ferguson clearly and deliberately targets referees in his post-match interviews and yet Green singles out Wenger, (a man with more integrity in his little finger than Green has in his fat bloated body) for the sort of fact-blind vitriol that is clearly at odds with his position both on your paper and indeed the BBC. Wenger actually said that any inference that the referee made anything other than a simple mistake was nonsense.

It’s a sad fact of journalism that columnists need to appear to be controversial and to engender debate – the ‘He tells it like it is’ tabloidesque school, if you will. What you’ve got in Alan Green is a ‘He tells it like it isn’t’ columnist. Shame on you for paying him a fee for that article.

A retraction is in order to salvage some integrity. For yourselves, that is. Green is far beyond that sort of help.

The sad thing is that Alan Green is just one of many in the media who have got it in for Arsenal. I've just been watching SSN this morning to hear about the build up to the game,what a disappointment.

All I got was hours of Man Utd propaganda, clips of their victories, stats about London teams never scoring at OT,the 4-0 fa cup loss,no mention of us doing the double over them last season? It took 20minutes for them to mention Arsenal!

Even when they did mention Arsenal they showed clips of some 'fans' outside the Emirates, all of whom called for Wenger to be replaced; then it as back to the clips of United propaganda!

Now I know R.Murdoch is a United supporter, and Sky had shares in Man Utd but surely they cant be this biased?
