No doubt many of you will have heard about Liam Brady's argument with Eamonn Dunphy on RTE television last night.
To see what made Chippy so irate you can view via the RTE website by clicking here - then choosing the clip second from bottom 'The studio panel continue to debate tonight's game at Anfield'.
You need Real Player and you need to forward to about 6'30 in to get the beginning of it.

Dunphy - I've heard the guy is meant to be a prick, and from watching that clip, what a cocksure, smug cocksucker. Looks like he loves the sound of his own voice, completely irrespective of what's coming out of it - the guy could do with some quality control on the drivel he spouts, if that is how he speaks all of the time.

Arseblogger you are brillant and excellent site.
IMO Eamonn is saying what we all are thinking. Wenger has blow it and I think we need to replace him fast. He cannot take Arsenal further, but we have a board who is thinking we are making money and all is rosey. we need a board to tell Wenger, taht we need trophies also so spend the money to buy quality players to replace the shite helb, VP, Ade, eboure , Senderos
If we need to get a decent CB, Midfielder, striker and a couple of wingers, then we will see the same next year
I always admired Dunphy, especially for speaking his mind in the Charlton years and not following the sheep mentality. But in World Cup 1986 he quit the RTE panel as he felt insulted by a skit RTE ran during the third place play off. He felt insulted as the panel were replaced by a singer and a few impressionists. The result was quiet funny and was taken in good heart by the other regular panelists and presenter.
RTE insulted Arsene Wenger last night, and that is wrong, it would be equally wrong to insult Ferguson, Grant or the manager of East Fife.
It was a bad call by RTE ,trying to appeal to the "lads in the pub" mentality that decides opinion on sport.Dunphy was wrong and as someone who has suffered personal attacks in the past should know better.
absolutely brilliant, he was exactly how i would have reacted to the 3 of them. I was very proud of the team last night, what a brilliant effort.....i just hate the fact that everybody wants us to lose and enjoys it when we do. Its asif we shudnt be playing the football we and should start pumping it up all the time. the teams getting better and better and i just hope they stick together, i feel we need 1 or 2 players....not 5 or 6 like everybody else is saying. ARSENE WILL GET IT RIGHT, HE ALWAYS DOES!! IN ARSENE I TRUST!
Ha ha!
Fucking love it! Go on Liam!
Knock the cunt out!
The Brady/Dunphy spat was preceded by some loaded questions from O'Herlihy regarding whether Arsene had lost it or not. It was as Chippy said, a set-up.
Up until a month or so ago, Arsenal were exceeding all expectations, including those of Arsenal fans. However, controversy excites people and Dunphy, O'Herlihy and whoever else sits on the RTE editorial team had obviously decided this would make for good ratings. It was unfair on Liam Brady who was doing his FAI gig yesterday and it was unfair on Arsene. Anyone who works in TV or film will tell you how easy it is to edit something and make someone look like a fucking eejit. That's what they did last night but I'm not sure what the rationale for it was. I can't imagine them ever doing a similar montage of Ferguson even though he goes on spectacular rants on the touchline. I suppose they did it because Wenger is viewed by some as some kind of cold reptile because he doen't usually jump up and down like a fucking loon. However I can see that it was just born of frustration. He expects his team to reach what he sees as their potential and I'd agree with him there. However, as much as I'd love to win a Champions League I'd rather do it winning the way we play football than sacrifice it for the drudgery of the football provided by the likes of Liverpool (Torres excepted) and Chelsea.
As for Danny's comments above: We'd be insane to get rid of Arsene and Souness is a pile of plop when it comes to punditry.
The fact that Dunphy and the RTE crew prepared that and aired it without everyone else's prior knowledge is in incredibly poor taste. He tells Liam to stop jumping the fence, yet if the ref had not given the pen and Arsenal had won they would not have shown that clip and would instead be praising Wenger for his achievments. My respect for Liam Brady for sticking up for Wenger against that loudmouth arrogant alcoholic has gone up immensely. As for Souness, Muppet. That god in heaven that a fool such as him didn't get the Ireland job.
Oh god i hate Dunphy. I know every fan regardless of ability is intitled to an opinion but should that bloke be on National Tv spouting crap?
Well done Liam, tell them to stick their television roles. They will be giving you and trappatoni pelters when you dont win the world cup.
All credit to Liam. And I still reckon he could have all the other three twats - including the "hardman" Souness. Dunphy is a prick. A pundit who never played football!
Saw it live. First things first if right was right Brady probably should not be offering analysis on Arsenal seeing as he's linked to the club. That said Souness is always pro Liverpool and Dunphy is controversial for the sake of it. Dunphy will often criticise the establishment and usually tries to tear apart the BBC/ ITV / SKY bullshit world where:
1. All English players have heart and guts and are honest pros
2. Foreign players don't like it at them and are all cheats
3. Sir Alex ferguson doesn't make mistakes
4. The premier league was/ is and always will be the only league in the world
5. Any English international can kick/ foul and dive without negative comment
That said Dunphy is generally just a prick but the analysis on RTE is actually streets ahead of the plastic non-controversial world of ITV/ SKY & BBC where panels are dominated by shiny ex-pros who won't rock the boat for fear of being axed.
Oh yeah and Chippy is a legend- to quote Sir Myles Palmer- 'Dunphy is a bright but bitter little man who would have loved to have the career Liam Brady had.'
Have to agree that RTE panel is way more entertaining but last night they showed a distinct lack of class. It was wrong to ridicule Wenger in such a personal attack and it was wrong to put Brady in such an awkward position, knowing full well his link to Arsene Wenger.
I'm so fucking pissed off. Come on Barcelona!
Good response by Chippy. Has that bloke ever seen Monty Python? That was as much of an insult to John Cleese as it was a piss-take of Wenger.
Oh, Danny - what have you been smoking?!
Agree with Brady 100%, they had that in the can to ridicule Wenger in case of defeat. Bang out of order. Well said Chippy!

Gotta love Chippy. Legend.
typical punditry from typically retarded pundits. Eamon Dunphy? who's he?
